Do you have what it takes to shear a sheep? Want to try your hand at milking a cow? Want a picture with the Working Dogs? Well now is your chance with the Outback Stockman’s Arena showcasing these fantastic people and animals.
The super-speedy world-champion shearers will showcase their sensational skills at both the Sheep & Wool Pavilion and Outback Stockman Arena – Daily Telegraph Paddock during the Easter Show. Jim Murray is Head -Shearer at the show and he’ll be joined by Ian Elkin and Dayne West who featured on Show Radio earlier this week.
A show favourite is the Dairy Farmers Milking Barn which is an interactive experience for the whole family with demonstrations to show you how farmers care for their dairy cattle. Watch how different dairy products are made from fresh milk, learn about milking hygiene, and find out what these animals eat to stay healthy.
The best part is that each session lucky audience members are invited onstage to help take the clippers to a woolly sheep or hand-milk one of the gentle, good-natured cows as the experts explain the tricks of the trade. You can also have your picture taken with the working dogs themselves.
These are just some of the wonderful things happening at the Outback Stockman’s Arena and below are the show times. Have a listen to the chat I had with Dayne the shearer, Luke the milker, and Murray Wilkinson.
